After struggling to figure out a category to put this under I've settled with Conceptual. After having the idea in my head I feel I've executed it pretty well. As a new member to DeviantArt I decided to browse similar Deviations of the same idea and I was interested to see how they had went about it. Instead of going for just a 'skull and some flowers', I decided to expand upon it and to give it that little bit extra.
I've entitled this piece: "Afterlife."; not an original title I agree but one simple enough to convey the initial concept within my head. Although I'm not a follower of any one religion I believe that there is life after death which I believe to have portrayed in the following piece.

I see this as more of a work in progress since I'm still not happy with some parts, so I will probably update it at some point.

This was created using Photoshop and the following stock images: [link] [link] [link]

Thanks for viewing.

Edit: Updated image to what it was meant to look like. Damn laptops!

the green looks really toxic and like out a zombie movie i really like the red contrast of the flowers which give the whole pic a very mixed feeling

Thanks for your comments :) My main idea was to represent life and death. In short, the darkness of the forest represents the lack of life - as does the skull of the deer, which is contrasted by the insects and plants. Furthermore the stages of metamorphosis (Of the caterpillar - which in this image turns nito a Monarch butterfly) are shown in the image. The caterpillars can be seen bottom right moving offscreen to show that they will go on to live, and that life continues, similar to the butterfly hatching from it's cocoon.
great peice, I love the serenity in it.
